Navigating through deep folder structures is tedious and a waste of time, which you can use for other things. If you are tired of having to navigate to the same folders, applications or websites, SideBar can make your life easier. It places a bar on the side of your screen, as the name suggests, where you can save and group shortcuts to mostly anything you want. Whenever you need to open a particular folder or access a specific website, you can do it instantly, instead of sifting through your folders or bookmarks.

Downloading and installing SideBar is a quick and effortless task. It works on all modern Windows platforms and it doesn't ask for any special tools or services. Also, you won't notice any kind of impact on your computer's performance while the application is running.

Once the application is running, you may click its system tray icon to bring up a large bar on one of the screen's edges. At first, the bar is blank, but you can add groups and populate them with shortcuts to local files and folders, application executables, network locations or websites. Groups can be created by simply typing a name, while shortcuts involve pasting a URLs or local paths.

To make it more comfortable to the eye, the side bar can be customized with different colors, moved to the other edge of the screen and it can be made transparent as well. What's more, the software can be set to display a calendar, at the bottom of its bar, as well as links to stocks and energy prices. All settings can be made in a compact menu, with nothing more than a few clicks.

The way SideBar lets you access your important resources can significantly increase your productivity.

Pros

You can place shortcuts to files, folders, applications and websites on a side bar, at the edge of the screen. The software lets you organize your shortcuts in different groups. SideBar is lightweight and it is quite easy to use.

Cons

The stocks and energy prices links don't work.
